5/30/23 – CW Broadcast – the new company name for Circuit Werkes and PTEK brands is debuting their new line of transmitters: 50, 100, 150, 300, 500, 750, 1200, 1500 2000, 2500 and 3000 Watt units, all redesigned, with multiple power supplies in the larger models.

CWB is also offering “Remote Control – Webserver” add-ons for existing and new transmitters.

5/30/23 – WorldCast wants you to know about their SynchroStream – APT’s technology for time-synchronous IP transmission and audio/MPX content playout. It is the ultimate solution for time-locking IP transmissions and synchronizing FM modulation. It is designed to control delay differences and their impact on the listening experience in an SFN.

5/14/23 – Digital Alert Systems has now released Version 5.1 Software for current DASDEC and One-Net platforms. More information here.

4/13/23 – Shively Labs has announced they have been acquired by American Amplifier Technologies  (AAT). 

The sale includes all assets and intellectual property – including the Shively test range. Employees were offered jobs at the new factory in Sacramento, but Howell Labs also offered continued employment in Maine. (A nice choice for anyone caught in a similar sale.) The brand will continue as Shively, originating and shupped from Sacramento since March 24th.

All orders before March 24th are being shipped from Bridgton, ME, Future operations will be out of a new facility in Scaramento, CA. During this period, phone numbers will be maintained for contact.

4/13/23 – Angry Audio’s Chameleon has wideded the line with the latest version, the C4 version, will take care of your streaming audio with no fuss, no mess. Feed it audio. It just works. 

4/12/23  – DirectOut and Lawo announced that the modular Prodigy.MP and Prodigy.MC audio converters, which were only recently on tour with Coldplay, are now fully integrated with Lawo’s HOME platform. Additionally, Lawo and intoPIX will provide lossless JPEG XS support. NAB Booth C4111.

1/27/23 – Comrex is now shipping the BRICKlink III. 

12/22/22 – GatesAir will supply 168 Flexiva FM transmitters in a turnkey deal to modernize Radio Nacional de Angola’s nations FM infrastructure. Included are towers, antennas, auxiliary RF systems and studio digitization.

12/14/22 – The word on the street is that while some aspects of shipments from China are increasingly no longer backlogged, and container costs have dropped from $20,000 to $2,000 on average, the real problem is still the chips and ICs. Major transmitter manufacturers are still looking at 50 and 70 week delivery times.

The point is that if you are planning a purchase, Plan ahead! Do not expect instant delivery any time soon.

11/30/22 – StreamS has released an HTML5-MSE HLS AAC Audio Player that, works in all modern browsers, across all platforms, and has synchronous in-band metadata display. It is FlashFREE, no RTMP, no MP3, and does not require a dedicated special streaming server. The player can be served from the same HLS content server, and there is no user installation. Check it out.

9/20/22 – Digital Alert Systems is now shipping the DASDEC-III with Version 5.0 software and a series of new features. 

                                                                     

9/18/22 – Angry Audio has expanded its Chameleon line to include the C-LEVEL audio preprocessor. It is intended for similar use as the Aphex Compellor. Shipping beings in October.

9/7/22 – Sennheiser is set to release some new products at IBC, expanding the Evolution Wireless Digital family of radio microphones. Named , the new microphone systems will simplify professional workflows by utilizing refined technologies to deliver a digital UHF system that can be scaled with ease. Additionally, Sennheiser will announce a the AMBEO spacial audio renderer, and a collaboration with Dear Reality and Neumann to integrate their products.

9/7/22 – The Lawo diamond console, recently announced, will be shown publicly at IBC in Amsterdam, September 9-12. This Next Generation IoIP mixing surface has all sorts of configurations, workflow layouts, touchscreen, and more.

 

8/3/22 – Inovonics has announced a major change at the helm: After 50 years building and guiding Inovonics, Jim Wood has officially retired and the company has been acquired by President/CEO Ben Barber. Wood will keep ties with the company as a consultant, but needs to tend to a lot of projects that await his attention.

8/2/22 – StreamGuys has a new programmatic ad service. It is particularly aimed at mid-market and smaller stations with limited in-house advertising sales resources. Broadcasters can take advantage of StreamGuys services with minimal effort. StreamGuys utilizes server-side ad insertion (SSAI) and a waterfall method to target available inventory in real time and connect any unfilled impressions to StreamGuys ad marketplace. It is all done by StreamGuys – the station does not have to do anything.

6/29/22 – JAMPRO and ALAN DICKcelebrate 50 years of production of the UHF Broadband EMISlot Antenna, initially released in 1972. Used on every continent except Antarctica, The EMISlot was the predecessor to today’s H90 and H72 Broadband UHF Panels. In recent years ADBL has introduced EPOL and CPOL versions of both the H90 and H72 UHF panels.

6/27/22 – Kintronic Labs is opening a new online store, to make buying parts and products fast and convenient. The initial setup offers mica and vaccuum capacitors with more items planned to coming along soon.

4/11/22 – Jampro has a new Hybrid 90 kW FM Combiner, already in production, which as both a Starpoint and Constant Impedance. The Combiner supports five transmitter inputs into a high-power broadband antenna array. Check it out at www.jampro.com

4/11/22 – Evoca TV has successfully demonstrated how vital emergency information can be provided to video subscribers even when those viewers are tuned to programming delivered over the Internet.  The innovative Evoca solution, which includes a provision for advanced emergency alert messages via next-generation ATSC 3.0 broadcast technology, is powered by technology from Digital Alert Systems.

2/3/22 – WorldCast Systems has announced the further evolution of its powerful APTmpX solution. Following optimization by Worldcast engineers, three new versions of the APTmpX algorithm are available offering new levels of compression at 600, 400 or 300kbps network bandwidth.

 

1/3/22 – Kintronic Labs announces that Joshua King will become the new President/CEO, taking over from his father, Tom. 

 

12/22/21 – Inovonics is reacting to some reported issues with the 635 and 637 SiteStreamers. The symptoms are premature failure of the PHY – Physical Network Interface, causing intermittent network connections. In order to ensure customers are not hurt by such premature failure, the warranty period is being extended to 5 years. If your 635 or 637 SiteStreamers is not functioning properly, contact Inovonics Customer Service.

Also, there is a new firmware update for their INOmini Receiver-Monitors, models 661, 673, 674, 676, and 679.

 

12/22/21 – The Telos Alliance now has a V4.0 software upgrade for the Omnia.11, along with the Silvio Clipper, from Frank Foti.
This free upgrade is available here – just register your Omnia.11 with its serial number.

 

12/8/21 – SENNHEISER introduces the HD400 Pro headset for a more natural acoustic listening experience. 
These open-back studio headphones are lightweight but with transducers set to provide a wide and transparent soundstage with low distortion, even at high SPL’s.  More info here.

 

 

11/30/21 – WorldCast is bringing out an updated (version 2.3.0) 5/10 kW Ecreso transmitter, featuring “1+1” redundancy, SmartFM [v2] to boost FM energy savings, better automation control, RDS improvements, and reinforced security from remote FTP.

11/16/21 – LAWO has announced its new radio console, the “diamond” – ranging from two to 60 pots (and 60 more virtual pots!). 

 

The diamond‘s IP-native mixing system is based on the open AES67/RAVENNA Audio-over-IP networking standards and also complies with ST2110-30/-31 and ST2022-7. The diamond is powered by the Lawo Power Core Engine. Fully and flexibly programmable, the surface is complemented by the optional Virtual Extension HD colo TFT touch displays for easy control.

11/10/21 – Inovonics announces their new HD Radio Modulation Monitors, models 551 & 552. Shipping is expected in January. A new on-line Inovonics catalog is also now available.

10/18/21 – GatesAir has added native Livewire+ IP audio networking to its Intraplex Ascent cloud transport platform, effective immediately. Intraplex Ascent can now ingest and output multiple audio channels directly via IP without the need for conversion equipment. Future support is planned for WheatNet-IP.

10/17/21 – StreamGuys has unveiled a major upgrade to its HTML5-based SGplayer multimedia player. Complementing SGplayer’s existing embeddable configuration, version 3.2 offers a new full-page layout mode that provides additional ways for radio broadcasters and content producers to connect with their audiences and monetize their live streams and podcasts.

9/27/21 – Shure has updated the ADX5D firmware to add new features and enhancements to their wireless system receiver.

9/16/21 – Dielectric is seeking a Proposed RuleMaking by the FCC to permit AI-Based Directional FM Antenna Pattern Verification. Their new software may accomplish what the Method of Moments did for AM directionals.

9/15/21 – The Telos Alliance has announced the release of Omnia.11 version 4.0 – a free release featuring a brand new Frank Foti-designed clipper capable of providing significant sonic improvements for G-Force users and new presets. Learn more

9/8/21 – Wheatstone plans plenty of exciting new products for the forthcoming NAB Show.

7/22/21 – Angry Audio has a new product, the Headphone Disconnector.

Based on the principles of the power cords on Apple and Surface computers, it is a magnetized cord that disconnects rather than pulling a wire out of a headphone or the plug. 

7/7/21 – Italian manufacturer RVR is now shipping their newest model: the TEX1002TFT FM Transmitter, a 1 kW unit based on the latest RF technologies, featuring a user friendly color touch screen, enhanced cooling, up to 80% efficiency, and more.

7/7/21 – WorldCast Systems has a major new release of the APT IP Codec range. The 4.0 system release (SR 4.0) is available on the APT IP, AoIP Multichannel, and MPX Multichannel codecs and includes several new features and enhancements. The most significant are the unique APTmpX technology, the world’s first and only non-destructive MPX/composite compression algorithm, and SynchroStream, a new APT technology for precise and stable time-synchronous IP transmission and playout of audio content. Both available as software options. Other enhancements include a precision clock module for GPS, an NTP – content time alignment, and NAT transversal connection mode

6/12/21 – The WireCAD library is designed for the broadcaster to make facility and project design more organized and document everything. With cloud-based and desktop software WireCAD can aid the engineer with easy to understand computer aided design. There is a demo video on the page.

6/11/21 – Digital Alert Systems now has a new technology partnership with COMARK (Hitachi Kokusai Electric Comark LLC), a systems integrator and supplier of the LEX-2000 MPEG-2 digital TV encoder/multiplexer for the low-power television (LPTV) market. The partnership links the Digital Alert Systems’ DASDEC™ Emergency Alert System (EAS) messaging platform over a standard IP network with the LEX-2000 encoder. Users can now present the alert message as a text crawl with audio over all configured program streams.

5/25/21 – Jampro is offering their FM Sidekick portfolio of combiners to allow Channel 6 TV Stations to provide ATSC 3.0 TV and FM Audio Transmission on the same antenna infrastructure. The RCCC-101-FM-4EH will allow broadcasters to combine both the Next-Generation ATSC 3.0 TV and FM audio broadcasts within the assigned channel 6 bandwidth.

5/9/21 – Inovonics has announced their new model DAVID IV 719N FM/HD Radio Broadcast Processor with Network Interface – adding easy Web Access for set-up, control, and increased networking capabilities to the popular DAVID IV 719 DSP-based design processor with no price increase.

Furthermore, Inovonics will provide free upgrades to 719 users that purchased their processors from January 1, 2020 to May 2021 (transport not included). For those with 719 processors purchased before 2020, there will be a $500 upgrade fee + transport to convert their 719 units to the new 719N model.

4/13/21 – WorldCast Systems have officially launched their SynchroStream technology for the APT Codec Range with the release of SR 4.0. The SynchroStream technology and its “single pane of glass” approach benefits the broadcaster by hugely simplifying the setup, configuration and maintenance of a solid and stable SFN network. SynchroStream is compatible with baseband audio coding and the existing MPX/Composite linear coding schemes and also the new APTmpX algorithm, the world’s first non-destructive MPX/Composite algorithm, also part of the new SR 4.0.

4/7/21 – Nautel has played a key role in recent digital signals from a single FM transmitter in order to provide a wider range of services. The tests have successfully demonstrated the viability of operating up to six separate digital channels from one transmitter, each of which carries multiple HD Radio or DRM services.

4/7/21 – Orban Labs’ OPTIMOD-FM 5500i, 5700i, and 8600Si processors have received Nielsen certification and are now available with onboard PPM encoding, joining Orban’s XPN-AM which. last fall, was the industry’s first processor to include internal PPM encoding and receive Nielsen certification.

3/29/21 – Digital Alert Systems has released software Version 4.3 for the DASDEC EAS boxes. The update s free, and contains security upgrades and a Single Sign On (SSO) feature so administering multiple boxes can be done with one login and password. 

3/29/21 – Dielectric Communications has promoted Mike Spugnardi to hear the RF Systems and Components Division., after successfully handling the TV Re-Pack. 

3/13/21 – The program automation company Enco has moved after 20 years, and is now down the road to new offices. The new site in Novi, MI is 17 miles from the old offices.
 

Among the benefits of the move, ENCO will have a lot more space, and be able to bring all departments together at one location, making the whole operation more efficient. 

3/5/21 – Broadcast Depot is featuring the Brigitte Studio Furniture line. It is described as all-in-one, customizable, able to adapt to any studio size.

2/10/21 – Nautel has acquired Digidia, a French company deeply involved in high power electronics and digital signal processing, including DAB+ and DRM.

12/9/20 – Nautel has sold 30 NVLT transmitters – with an option of 12 more – to the Turkish Radio/Television Corporation for delivery during 2021.

9/23/20 – Nautel has released an app for transmitter control that does not rely on browser-based Flash. This app does not require a transmitter visit. (You may recall that the browser makers have pledged to drop Flash support at the end of the year.)

9/11/20 – The LBA Group has announced that 100% of its technical staff have been certified for installing CBRS facilities.

9/4/20 – WorldCast Systems’ Ecreso FM 3kW transmitter has been approved by the German Public Broadcasting system (ARD), having met their rigorous specifications, among the most demanding.

9/1/20 – INOVONICS BROADCAST is in the evacuation zone for one of the big California fires. Thus, they are doing their best to service customers, but response times may be less than optimal. So far, no injuries or damage reported to the factory, but owe want to send our “positives” in their direction.

5/5/20 – Digital Alert Systems has announced their new Software Assurance Plan.  For all users of Version 4.0, DAS will provide all future software updates for a set yearly fee, along with discounts on additional options, service, and parts.

4/7/20 – Henry Engineering has another unique problem-solver called “BackUPS,”  an “automatic UPS bypasser” whichsolves the problems of (a) how to automatically (or remotely) bypass a failed UPS and (b) how to fix a failed UPS without shutting off power to critical equipment.

1/30/20 – Henry Engineering has a new PowerClamp SERIES 200 surge suppressor – rated at 200,000 surge-amps per phase, and will attenuate powerline spikes and surges to within a few volts of the AC sine wave.

Series 200 has more surge-amp capacity than previous PowerClamp units, but costs less thanks to newer production technology, including a hybrid of multiple technologies to greatly reduce the amplitude of AC spikes and surges that often damage these switching supplies.

1/16/20 – Comrex has released a new update for its line of IP audio codecs. Firmware version 4.5p2 is being released in conjunction with ACCESS MultiRack, a new multi-instance codec from Comrex, to provide seamless integration of all functions with legacy single-instance ACCESS codecs. This new firmware simplifies CrossLock connections between the new ACCESS MultiRack and legacy Comrex IP audio codecs.

12/12/19 – Inovonics has developed a new free firmware update for our INOmini Receiver-Monitors, models 661, 673, 674, 676, 679. This latest firmware update improves the internal reference clock and lots of little things that have come-up since the products were first launched in June 2019.

Inovonics recommends that users download and install the new firmware updates at their earliest convenience. It should be noted that a factory reset is required after the update.

12/5/19 – Comrex is now shipping its ACCESS MultiRack, its new rackmount multi-channel IP audio codec. ACCESS MultiRack occupies only 1RU, it can handle up to five full-duplex IP audio connections simultaneously, and is compatible with all Comrex IP audio codecs.

11/25/19 – LBA Technology is now showing off their new CAMICAT broadband AM isocouplers. The product makes it easier to use an AM tower for revenue production.

11/18/19 – Nautel and GatesAir have announced their annual events for the 2020 NAB Spring Show. Nautel will remain on Sunday morning; GatesAir will move their gathering to Saturday afternoon.

11/12/19 – LBA is offering a new Hybrid ColoCoil for 4G/5G Cellular that makes isolating Hybrid cable on AM towers hassle free and dependable.

The Hybrid ColoCoil -series isocouplers economically isolate current fiber/copper hybrid cables from “hot” AM towers. Hybrid cables are fast replacing coaxial cables for advanced 4G and new 5G cellular installations. For legacy AM colocations, LBA Hybrid ColoCoils become drop-in upgrade replacements for coaxial ColoCoils, saving valuable space in tower-base compounds.

9/25/19 – Comrex introduced two new products at the Radio Show this year. The new ACCESS NX Rack is a complete redesign of the industry standard ACCESS Rackmount IP audio codec, featuring a more powerful processing core, new HTML5-based web browser control interface and AES67 compatibility. The new ACCESS MultiRack features five ACCESS IP codecs in a 1RU, 19-inch rackmount chassis with the same new features as in the ACCESS NX Rack.

9/25/19 – The Telos Alliance has a new console, the Axia Quasar, a 6th Generation AoIP Console.

9/19/19 – GatesAir has now added Video transport added to the Intraplex audio transport platform.

9/4/19 – Nautel will have a special program at IBC on Saturday on DRM implementation. We are told it will also be available later on the drm.org website.

9/4/19 – At IBC and NAB, the Telos Alliance demonstrate the new Omnia MPX Node.
   
This hardware codec is capable of transmitting a complete FM composite signal via IP, at rates as low as 320 kbps.

9/4/19 – The Telos Alliance announced a new audio processor, the Linear Acoustic LA-5300. The LA-5300 is specifically designed to deliver loudness control, upmixing, watermarking, coding and monitoring for ATSC 3.0 audio.

The LA-5300 provides loudness control via the Dolby® Real-Time Loudness leveler (when encoding to AC-4). The LA-5300 can upmix from stereo to 5.1-channel and can also decode incoming AC-4 streams for confidence monitoring, bitstream analysis, and for audience measurement using the optional Nielsen and Verance watermark encoders.

9/4/19 – LAWO Announces Power Core MAX, a AES67 mixing engine that supports up to four independent Lawo mixing surfaces.
             
In addition to giving users incredible amounts of processing, routing and I/O capabilities, Power Core has 96 available DSP channels and the capacity to handle hundreds of analog, digital and AES67 audio signals. According to Clark Novak, “with the Power Core MAX license pack, a single engine can be controlled by more than one mixing surface.”

9/4/19 – GatesAir, has expanded its range of DAB Radio transmitters and solutions to include multi-carrier and liquid-cooled innovations, starting with debuts at IBC2019. Many of the new innovations result from the company?s recent acquisition of ONEtastic, known forward as GatesAir S.r.l.

8/22/19 – LAWO announces their AES67 Stream Monitor, a new software product for Windows PCs, debuting at IBC 2019.

Called an easy way to keep themselves informed about the state of their program streams, Clark Novak says: “Broadcasters are vocal about their support for the AES67 standard. But they’ve had no easy way to inspect and monitor critical audio streams. AES67 Stream Monitor addresses this issue and fills their need.”
